Coaching that goes Beyond Technique

I help golfers improve performance by changing awareness and intent — so better shots emerge naturally and transfer to the course.

Most golfers don’t need more swing thoughts — they need clarity.
At PB Performance, coaching starts with how you play the game, not how your swing looks on video.

Golfers notice cleaner contact, better shots and more confidence in their very first session — without consciously “changing” their swing.

A relaxed first session. No pressure to change anything or book further coaching.
Just a chance to explore what would genuinely help your game — at your pace.

Introductory sessions are complimentary for new players.

Golfers often arrive believing they have a technical problem.
Many leave striking the ball better, scoring lower, and feeling more confident — without chasing positions or forcing change.

That’s not by accident.
It’s by design.

What “Beyond Technique” Actually Means

Instead of piling on positions, fixes, and swing thoughts, my coaching focuses on helping you:

  • Understand what’s actually happening in your game

  • Make clearer decisions through better intent

  • Swing with freedom rather than control

When those pieces are in place, technique improves naturally — and performance follows.

You don’t need to think differently about golf.
You just need a better way to unlock your best golf.

Coaching Philosophy: How I Coach

A Different Starting Point

Most coaching starts with technique.
Mine goes beyond it - and starts with the golfer.

Before we talk about changing a swing, we look at how you approach shots, how you choose targets, and how free or restricted you are when you move the club. Because performance problems rarely start with mechanics — even though they often show up there.

The PB Performance Framework

My coaching follows a simple but powerful sequence:

Awareness → Intent → Freedom (before Technique)

This order is deliberate. It’s why many golfers notice changes quickly — and why those changes are easier to repeat on the course.

Awareness

We begin by understanding what’s really happening in your game — without judgement or over-analysis.
Not what you think is wrong, but what’s actually influencing your shots, decisions and patterns.

This creates clarity and removes confusion — often the biggest blocker to improvement.

When clarity improves, golfers often stop fighting the task and start striking the ball more cleanly.

Intent

Once awareness is clear, intent becomes simple.
Clear targets. Clear decisions. Clear commitment.

Golf gets harder when intent is vague. When intent is strong, the body organises itself remarkably well - often with immediate effect.

Freedom

Freedom is the ability to swing without tension, control or second-guessing.
This is where golfers often improve the most — without feeling like they’ve “worked” on their swing.

When freedom increases, movement improves.
When movement improves, technique takes care of itself - and holds up better under pressure.

Technique (When It’s Needed)

Technique still matters — but it comes after the foundations are in place.

Any technical work is:

  • Minimal

  • Relevant

  • Easy to trust on the course

No clutter. No constant fixing. Just what supports better performance.

What Golfers Notice

Golfers often say:

  • “I’m thinking less”

  • “The swing feels easier”

  • “I didn’t realise this was the issue”

  • “It just feels simpler now”

These aren’t tricks or temporary feelings — they’re signs that attention is in the right place.

That’s exactly the point.

The Outcome

This approach helps golfers:

  • Play more consistent golf

  • Trust their swing under pressure

  • Improve without chasing fixes

  • Enjoy the game again

You don’t leave with a list of swing thoughts.

You leave with clarity — and better golf that’s easier to repeat.

The Player Journey

Your Path to Long Term Improvement

Step 1 — Book Your Introductory Game Assessment

A focused, one-to-one session designed to bring clarity to your game and reveal the simplest, most effective opportunities for improvement.

Most golfers leave this session with clearer contact, a calmer feel through the strike, and a better understanding of what to take onto the course.

There’s no requirement to continue — the purpose is simply to give you direction and confidence about your next steps.

Step 2 — Choose the Coaching Route That Fits You

If you choose to continue, you can move forward in a way that suits how you want to improve.

Some golfers prefer structured monthly coaching for steady, long-term development.
Others choose a half-day or full-day experience for more intensive exploration and momentum.

Both routes follow the same awareness-led approach — the difference is depth and pacing, not philosophy.

Step 3 — Start Improving with a Personalised Plan

You’ll follow a clear, structured roadmap shaped around your goals, lifestyle, and playing ambitions.

Training is purposeful rather than busy, with guidance that helps improvements hold up on the course — not just in practice.

Support is there when you need it, without constant fixing or overload.

Coaching Programmes

A Clearer, Calmer Way to Improve Your Golf

Lasting improvement doesn’t come from quick fixes or constant technical changes. It comes from developing better awareness, clearer intention, and the ability to practise and play with confidence over time.

My coaching programmes are designed for golfers who want meaningful, lasting change — not short-term solutions. Whether your focus is developing skills with clarity or learning how to bring those skills into the real game, we’ll work together in a way that fits your goals, your schedule, and how you actually play.

Your journey always begins with a complimentary introductory game assessment. From there, I’ll help you choose the level of ongoing coaching that best supports your development — without pressure, contracts, or unnecessary complexity.

Trackman coaching

A supportive way to stay connected to your game while continuing to develop skills and awareness. Includes one in-person coaching session per month, with ongoing online support to maintain clarity, confidence, and direction.

On course coaching

Designed for players ready to apply what they’re learning in the real game. The focus shifts to practice, transfer to the course, and building habits that hold up under playing conditions and pressure.

  • A personalised development outline you can apply immediately, whether you continue coaching or not

  • Honest, expert guidance in a calm, supportive, no-pressure environment

What Our Clients Say

Our coaching has transformed many golfers’ performance and enjoyment of the game.

Ben Wilkinson: "I couldn't believe the difference after just one session. Next round, I won our Captain's away day and dropped a shot off my handicap. Nothing complicated with my swing - it was a change to my mindset and simple processes I could actually stick to. I'm now play within myself, understanding my game better and enjoying my golf again. It's been a game changer."
